Doing my part to make the world a better place—whether it be by a total epiphany or a simple smile—I've found a hobby in leaving simple Post-it notes. On these Post-its are written words of kindess, love, and encouragement, in hopes that it may bring a little light to whoever may find it. Since this objective took flight, I've additionally enjoyed simply sharing daily occurances that make life beautiful. Do take what you can from my silly, messy, and scatterbrained story. If nothing else, may it encourage you to embrace your own.

Dynamic Duo Posting!

Hello, hello!

Gosh. I haven't blogged in SO LONG. (Don't feel guilty, Meagan. Don't do it!) Actually, in all honesty, I haven't had time to feel guilty about blogging. In that sense, it's a good thing, I suppose.

June has been beyond busy. Isn't that ridiculous? Whoever gave humanity the idea that summer vacation was less stressful... Or anywhere near a "vacation," was clearly just messin' with my head.

Between juggling weight lifting, basketball, volleyball, summer league games, teaching summer school, and managing my work schedule between the vet clinic and Camp Wapo... I'm pooped! It never seems like I have quite THAT much... Until I write it out. Busy-ness has it's pros and cons, that's for sure.

Well, I won't sit here and pretend I've posted tons of notes and just "forgot" to take pictures (That's become half the fun!). Since we're being honest, there are some days that I literally don't have time to get out a note. Or when I do, I don't have any materials to do it with.

Now... That I've vented about my Post-it struggles, I'll have to know I did get a few notes out over the last couple days. (Let's just pretend the other week & a half I spent NOT blogging never happened. Kapeesh?)

Yesterday, I wrote this fancy shmancy note and put it in the middle school bathroom. I don't get over to the middle school often during the school year, but find myself going in everyone morning in the month of June to teach summer school. Joy! Anyway, the message on this note was extra short and to the point... But do take note of my artistic design! Yes, I was proud.

Today was a super exciting day in my Post-it world!! Worthy of two exclamation points, mind you. Brittany and I met up this afternoon in a cute little town for some good hang time. Besides just always having fun like usual, we did some posting of notes while together! After climbing a ginormous amount of cement stairs to find a glorious land of milk and honey (Note: That is a lie. We found a housing development.), we took a little stroll to a DQ where we bought some ice cream and chatted for a bit. Eventually, we made our way to a little gift shop where we would quietly leave our notes. I can't even tell you how much more exciting it is to do with someone else!

This would be my Post-it for the day. Brittany and I both grabbed our message/quote out of a book we're reading called The Me I want to Be by John Ortberg- I would definitely recommend it. Anyway, Britt helped me find this thought-provoking question, which I left on a shelf of knick-knacks. Kinda cool!

Brittany left her note oh so creatively in a card. I took a picture of the outside, as well as her note, because I think the outside of the card is encouraging in itself. What a deal that person will get!

Britt is such a good Post-it leaver! I knew should would be, too. Hopefully we'll see more from this lovely lady, yes? ;-)

Well that's that. Thanks, Brittany, for a very enjoyable afternoon... And for leaving your note! Not only is your support for this project most appreciated, but I know with my entire heart that someone else will be effected as well. Good work, friend!

Alright, well, believe it or not, I'm leaving tomorrow with the basketball team for some bonding/tournament play for the weekend. I'm scheduled to be home late Saturday night, with hopefully some Post-it stories from the time gone. Sunday includes a staff lake party for the vet clinic, as well as working that morning and evening. See what I mean!? You can just call me Meagan McBusy.

On a more sentimental note, I really really want to take some time to do some soul searching (More appropriately deemed praying) about my priorities. Being busy can be great, but when it comes down to it, I have to figure out what will really matter to me in 5-6 years, you know? That was my Aristotle-side coming, out. It's true, though! I'll report back with any epiphanies.

Until next time!

Home Alas!

Yes, it's true! After a very full week of singing, dancing, laughing, and loving kids... I've returned to normal life.

It seriously took me a few hours to get out of talking-to-third-graders-mode back to reality. It was so awesome to be back at camp (In case I haven't mentioned, I worked last summer, as well.) and the kids were great! Unfortunately, it rained throughout most of the three days, so we did a lot of schedule changing and flying by the seat of our pants. It was also a terrible weekend for homesickness (The worst I've ever seen!) which really tested our "counselor" skills. All in all, it was good. I love, love, love teaching kids about God! Sometimes I don't even know why I get paid. But then... I clean the cabin at the end of the weekend and I remember. Just kidding! But really.

You will be SO proud of me when you see the notes I left while at camp! There is a series of three over the course over six days. Enjoy!

If I haven't already explained this, Tuesday-Friday at camp were staff training days. During this time, we did lots of manual reading, team-bonding games, and just acquainting ourselves with new staff, as well as catching up with old friends. The first note went up towards the beginning of training in a staff bathroom! I figured the older girls could handle a more wordy message.

The second note (In green!) was put up close to the end of our training and the beginning of our first weekend with kids. However, it stayed up over a few days. Funny story: At the first meal with my cabin of twelve elementary school girls, we routinely went into the bathroom to wash our hands. AT LEAST three girls read the sticky note out loud. I got some of the silliest responses! "That's weird!" and "Who left that!?" all so appalled at a stranger's note! So funny. I love kids.

The last sticky note while at camp was placed on the bathroom door of my cabin. I actually really loved the simplicity of this message. If there's anything I want my girls to leave with, it's that. And... After cleaning the cabin/bathroom after the girls had left this morning, I casually moved the Post-it to the mirror for this week's campers to see! So good.

So, anyway, that's about the extent of my last few days. I will probably wake up tonight singing "Pharaoh, Pharaoh" and wondering why my back doesn't hurt from the lovely camp bunks! Also, although I'm extremely grateful, I could NOT be more exited to be done with camp food. I literally was beginning to get sick! That sort of makes me happy, though... I've trained my body well.

Okay, well busy-weekness starts up again tomorrow. Never a dull moment! (That's a lie. There are occasional dull moments... Days...)

Have a good one!

Meagan

P.S. Laura/Liz, this is your shout-out! Who knows if you two have checked this little blog out, yet... But just wanted to say THANKS for being who you are! I couldn't be more excited for all the fun memories we'll have. Catch ya on the flip-side, ladies!

Hello?... Heeello?

Earth to Meagan!

HOLE-EEE HAN-NAH. This is officially the longest I've gone without blogging... I really don't feel bad about it, per say, although I can definitely say I've missed it!

Let me give you a short synopsis of what I've been doing over this long blogging break:

(Insert super fun, exciting, time-consuming life that has preoccupied the time I would otherwise use to write up a blog post occasionally.).....

Nope. I got nothin'. Which is part of the reason I've been so skimpy on my notes... It's SO hard to post them when I'm not leaving the vicinity of my house/neighborhood!

However, I've been out for occasional youth baseball games, ice cream, gas station stops, and teaching summer school, so I don't have any great excuses for my slacking.

BUT, we've already agreed to a no-guilt policy when it comes to these Post-its. So here I am... Not feeling guilty!

Anyway, so far, my summer has been a whole lotta bummin' and doing a whole lotta nothin'. It sounds good... For about a day. And then my adventurous/spontaneous/sick-of-small-town-life self kicks in.

Hopefully, with a summer job starting in (more to come about that!) and hopefully more exploring outside of my little town, I'll have more opportunities to put up notes... Because I really do love it!

I'm working with what I have, though, and was able to get a note up in a gas station bathroom this afternoon. I think I've written something similar to this before... But I liked it.

Back to that summer job--I'll actually be counseling at camp for majority of the weekends this summer. This is good, in that, hopefully I'll find myself in several situations in which the posting of a sticky note is in order... However, this means less blogging!

I leave tomorrow and won't be home until Sunday. Depending on how absolutely drained I may or may not be, I'll try to get some sort of post in Sunday afternoonish.

Okay, well that's the low-down as of now. I haven't totally abandoned the mission... But trying to interweave it into my extremely boring/busy schedule. (There's never a happy medium!)

Talk to you soon, okay?
