Doing my part to make the world a better place—whether it be by a total epiphany or a simple smile—I've found a hobby in leaving simple Post-it notes. On these Post-its are written words of kindess, love, and encouragement, in hopes that it may bring a little light to whoever may find it. Since this objective took flight, I've additionally enjoyed simply sharing daily occurances that make life beautiful. Do take what you can from my silly, messy, and scatterbrained story. If nothing else, may it encourage you to embrace your own.

TPIE Anniversary

Today's a special, special day in TPIE world...

(This lovely lil' baby went up at a gas station after school. Gas? Expensive. Random encouragement? Priceless)

Speaking of that, a year ago today gas was averaging $2.83 a gallon. And you know what? I was probably complaining. Today? I paid $3.89 for gas when I dropped my note.

You know what else holds a spot in my heart, a year ago from today?

(Please guess. I'm just so excited!) The Post-it Effect's journey began on April 12, 2010.

CAN YOU BELIEVE IT'S BEEN A YEAR?! Clearly, I can't. I know I haven't blogged everyday... But holy guacamole! Reflecting on how TPIE has affected my life, it doesn't always seem like very much. Did my every day revolve around it? No. Did I bring it up in conversation whenever I could? (Trick question!) Of course not. And I wouldn't say I went through some revolutionary epiphany that instantaneously made me a better person. (But if you ever find a pill/drink/book that does that, hook a sister up!)

The coolest memories from posting notes has been the small things... Like getting so nervous when on surveillance camera. Or having to type my messages to conceal my identity. Or hearing through the grape vine that some "anonymous person" as been leaving notes around school. Or simply being able write a note, leave it, and know that someone will find it. And whenever I would get discouraged about leaving messages, I would always re-read my introductory post. It put things into perspective. Every. Time.

Since I started leaving Post-its...

- I've really channeled in to the power of kindness. It can be, and more often than not is, so small. And probably feels 10x better when done anonymously.

"Wherever there is a human being, there is an opportunity for a kindness." - Seneca

- I've learned a lot about myself. Trust me, I've gotten weird looks from people... There's a point when you move past that and just keep going because you know it's right in your heart.

"You can't live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you." - John Wooden

- I've tried to practice what I preach. By no means I have perfected this. In fact, majority of the time, I'd say I fail miserably. However, everyone stands by their own advice because they believe it's the truth. The challenge is to live in it. Leaving these notes for strangers has challenged me to mirror the message I leave...

"Sometimes someone says something really small, and it just fits right into this empty place in your heart." - From the television show My So-Called Life

Although, as you know, I'm debating on what direction I want to head with blogging, I am so very grateful for this year of Post-it leaving. In some way or another, the trend will continue.
Have you had a kindness shown? Pass it on;
'Twas not given for thee alone, Pass it on;
Let it travel down the years,
Let it wipe another's tears,
'Til in Heaven the deed appears - Pass it on.
- Henry Burton, Pass It On

Noteless (!!!)

I've decided to make an administrative decision. Tune in.

For the first time... Ever... I am blogging without... A Post-it to share.

Why? I'm just itching to write! And of course, my scatterbrained self didn't get a note up today. However, rest assured, Post-its are SO not out. In fact, they are SO in, for all you fashion bugs out there. Word.

So tonight... I'm excited about posting a few of my favorite quotes. I'm literally a quote nut. (K... Not literally. But you get my point. This is serious biz.) If these nuggets of goodness don't warm your heart... Well, I hear tea will do the trick.

Enjoy!

I expect to pass through this world but once. Any good, therefore, than I can do or any kindness that I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now. Let me not defer it or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again. - Stephan Grillet

Develop an attitude of gratitude and give thanks for everything that happens to you, knowing that each step forward is a step toward achieving something bigger and better than your current situation. - Brian Tracy

Charity begins today. Today somebody is suffering, today somebody is in the street, today somebody is hungry. Our work is for today. Yesterday is gone, tomorrow has not yet come. We see a need, we go to meet it. - Mother Teresa

(I could go on & on... But my bedtime is calling my name!) Until next time. :-)

Blog Eval & Future Calling

Believe it or not, I have been DYING to blog this entire week.

Not to get off on a huge tangent, but I think that's why I need to either seriously evaluate this blog or create another one more life-focused. Although, I hesitate to change the basis of The Post-it Effect because I still really love the idea.

I just don't always remember to put notes up as often as I would like to blog! Hmm... I'll table that idea for another little while. But maybe that's a project for this summer? Thoughts? (Not to mention that I'm still pretty sure NO ONE reads this. And really, I'm okay with that! I am not a very reliable blogger as far as the TPIE and many of the posts are semi-similar. Oh, and probably most importantly, it's a secret to 98% of the people in my life. Drat.)

I'll keep TPIE updated with any future blogging plans for Ms. Meagan. Until then, I'm still going to keep this adventure a rollin'!

Speaking of that...

This note went up during church today. During? Yes, during. I snuck out in the middle of a boring hymn. I mean... I didn't say that. No worries--I returned to my abandoned pew soon after. It's a pretty note, though, eh? I'm not as subtle with my handwriting there. I don't even freakin' care! ;-)

As a weekend update--I took the ACT test this past Saturday. O-M-G. Just joshin' ya... It wasn't too bad. Science kicked my bootay, but everything else was mostly manageable. Funny story, though... At one point, I actually laughed out loud during the test. In my head I was saying, Oookay, let's be serious. I don't even know if that's an algebra problem or a geometry problem.

I sort of wish everyone could take a test with my brain... It's sort of entertaining.

And would you like to know my accomplishment of the night? I cooked something! Hear ye, hear ye... It's true. I made "Sante Fe Casserole". (Recipe kudos to CaitlinHTP)

I did my choppin', my dicin', and my measurin'... And then waited in anticipation for a whopping 25 minutes. Drumroll, please... So yummy! Nom nom nom!

I'm actually not joking. If I was a foodie blogger, I would insert a picture and step by step process here. However, I am not, and would probably make a fool out of myself if I tried. Point: I made a casserole, hey, hey, hey! No burning, spilling, or killing.

Meagan: 1, Fire Dpt: 0.
Bahahaha. OKAY, that might be pushing it. But I'm well on my way!

Off to get ready for the week! G'night.

Fishy math skills...

Tell me if this equation adds up to you...

Meagan's busy life - the extra time/stress of basketball - Facebook (Because she gave it up for Lent) = LESS blogging than previous seasons of life.

I think not. I've never been good at math.Although, to be completely honest, my computer is sick. :-( Yes, it's got "a bug" and is currently out of commission for awhile. So... This note that I'm sharing with you has been on my camera memory for a few weeks now. Side note rant: If you've stumbled upon this blog and have ever/plan on ever infecting other people's computers from the comfort of your own home, PLEASE explain to me why. I don't understand it and it truly boggles my mind. You don't even get to see me pull my hair out! That's not very much fun. Okay, rant done. This pretty little collage was put up in the church bathroom! If I remember right, it was a Wednesday night Lent service. Our crazy youth director walked into Bible study this morning and said "Has anyone seen the posters on the the wall?!" In my heart, I giggled. Posters? Post-its? Same thing. Anyway, we humored her and asked what in the world she was talking about. "They say Jesus loves you... Kind of." Of course, we laughed at her wording, which made it sound like Jesus kind of loves you, however, we knew she was just summarizing the notes.

Good enough summary for me! Angie (Youth director) then proceeded with another witty (and hilarious) comment...

"I wonder what the boys bathroom says! Probably 'Don't miss!'" Hahaha. Still laughing.

So that's that. Good stuff.

On another note, I've been thinking about starting another blog... Well, one that's more just me. I love this one and am NOT giving it up, but think it might be fun to have one that's a little more focused on the beautiful (and not so beautiful) parts of life. Part of me thinks that I have no where near enough of an interesting life to pull that off--which is sort of true, might have to wait until college or something--but let's be serious... I think I could come up with a funny/embarrassing/witty story for every single day of my life. Mmm... Anyway, that's on my brain... I'll keep you updated!

Well, I'm off to cook some breakfast. Yes, I'm feeling the breakfast for supper kind of night. Wish me luck! I'll definitely need it in some element of preparation.Have a great week!

Guilty As Charged

Hello, hello!

The 2010-2011 sports season has now come to a close. With the sadness that comes with leaving any group of friends you've grown close to, comes a huge sigh of relief as my schedule becomes oh so less hectic. Let me tell you, I'm so excited to not have practice on Monday.

Anyway, I DO have some notes for you--

These pretty, lil' babies went up on Thursday evening. I was visiting my mama at her apartment for her birthday and on the way out, decided to drop some love in the lobby area. With a few strokes of my Bic pen and some flashy, pink notes, I did my thing--littered some Post-its. I'm not all over littering... Actually, let's be honest, it drives me CRAZY. But this is is a kind of littering I can handle.

As you can see, they had a variety of phrases written on them. I really wanted to leave more, but the pressure was on as I KNEW I was on camera (awkward!) and I was super afraid that someone would walk in.

Oh, wait--they did! An older, scruffy man walked in and I totally biffed my "play it cool" philosophy. He smiled, did a double-take, and asked me if I was related to anyone in the apartment. I explained that my mom lived upstairs and he continued by asking me if I was "the girl who had been kidnapped a few weeks ago." (By this point, hopefully you can see how desperately some Post-its were needed in this apartment complex and how absolutely TERRIFIED I was.) So, I answered 'no', he left, and I ran out to my car. Yes, I ran.

All in all, I'm super glad I got some notes up. Such good littering!

Have a lovely Sunday!

No Excuses!

Hey-o!

Blah... Blogging has been really slow lately, huh? I'm super excited to finish up the winter sports season and move into spring, that's for sure! It'll be so nice to have more time, thus hopefully more notes/posts.

But for the time being, one note every once in a while is one note every once in a while. Better delayed than never!

This pink, little note went up today in the girls' bathroom! I really like that quote--it's convicting! No excuses, right?Notice: That is NOT my normal handwriting. I must disguise it to draw as little attention to myself as possible... Maybe I should invent a pseudonym.

Anyway, enjoy! Hope you had a lovely Monday. The worst part is over. :-)

Been Awhile

Hellooo to you!

Raise your hand if you haven't blogged in an outrageously long time...

Yes, don't worry, my hand is raised. Sorry about my lack of posting, I'm going to try to be better about it over the next couple weeks. We'll see!

I DO have a cute "note" to share with you, though.

Back story: My younger sister (9 yrs.) and I were sitting in church last Sunday. Picture a 17-year-old already at her whits end about her obnoxious siblings, trying to follow a sermon that is not holding interest in her head. That was me in the moment. My sister leaned over and tapped me on the shoulder. Turning to her with probably one of the most intimidating scowls EVER, she asked me to write someone "nice about God" on the back of her bulletin. I didn't even know what that meant, but she went on to tell me that I should just write "you know, something good about God... Like something you would keep in your car." (Bahaha! That last part made me laugh.) So... I did. I wrote "God can't love you more, and He won't love you less." Evidently, she didn't understand it at first because she proceeded to say, "That's mean!" at first. Then I told her to re-read it and she smiled as she (hopefully!) understood the meaning. Anyway, at this point, I still didn't know why she had me write it.

And then--drum roll, please--she stuck the bulletin in a pew pad (The registry booklet in every isle that people are suppose to write their names when they attend church) She looked at me with the biggest grin on her face. Clearly, I was about as happy as a Hallmark card around the holidays! She's catching on. ;-)

Looks like the Post-it Effect might just ripple right on through the family.

Hopefully I'll be back soon, with some more notes. Until then, stay classy!
